Product Details

Product Description of Mix Xylene CAS#1330-20-7

Xylene (dimethylbenzene) is a colorless, transparent aromatic liquid formed by the substitution of two hydrogen atoms on the benzene ring with methyl groups. It has a boiling point of 137–140°C.

Xylene exists in three isomeric forms—o-xylene, m-xylene, and p-xylene—depending on the relative positions of the methyl groups. In industrial applications, “xylene” typically refers to a mixture of these isomers along with ethylbenzene. Product grades are generally classified as superior or first-class, based on distillation ranges such as 3°C and 5°C.

The product is miscible with ethanol, chloroform, and ether, but insoluble in water. It is widely used as an organic solvent in industries such as pharmaceuticals, coatings, resins, dyes, explosives, and pesticides.

Xylene is moderately toxic and has a certain degree of carcinogenic risk. Environmental exposure may arise from sources such as synthetic fibers, plastics, fuels, rubber, coating additives, adhesives, waterproof materials, as well as combustion emissions from fuels and tobacco.
