K-CATALYST CAS#1318-93-0

  • High Purity Aluminosilicate – Montmorillonite is primarily composed of octahedral montmorillonite particles, ensuring consistent chemical and physical properties.

  • Fine Microstructure – Consists of plate-shaped microscopic crystals with an average diameter of about 1 μm and thickness of 0.96 nm, providing a high surface area for diverse applications.

  • Soft and Processable Mineral – As a very soft phyllosilicate, it is easy to handle, disperse, and integrate into various formulations.

  • Versatile 2:1 Clay Structure – Its 2:1 layered structure (two tetrahedral silica sheets sandwiching an octahedral alumina sheet) allows for excellent adsorption, swelling, and reinforcement properties in industrial and scientific applications.

Product Description of K-CATALYST (CAS#1318-93-0)

K-CATALYST, primarily composed of montmorillonite, is an aluminosilicate also known as microcrystalline kaolinite or collinite. The mineral was named after its first discovery in Montmorillonite, France.

Montmorillonite is a very soft phyllosilicate that forms microscopic clay crystals when precipitated from aqueous solutions. It belongs to the montmorillonite family and is classified as a 2:1 clay, consisting of two tetrahedral silica sheets sandwiching a central octahedral alumina sheet. The particles are plate-shaped, with an average diameter of approximately 1 μm and a thickness of 0.96 nm. Observing individual clay particles requires an electron microscope at roughly 25,000× magnification. Related minerals in this group include soapstone.
